A patchwork of extensions produced a warren of tiny rooms and kept sunlight out. These were demolished. A glazed screen was cranked to balance the internal and external spaces and maximize afternoon sunlight. A circular rooflight defines internal space and allows in sunlight from over the roof of the house in the morning. A tiny front room is extended with a bay window to create a cheerful play room. Every inch of the roofspace is put to use.
